Going into 2010, I had big plans. Going into 2011, I have even bigger plans.

You know how sometimes you post one half of a shoot that involved some fly kicks and lovely ladies…and totally plan on posting the other half? And then a swarm of senior sessions happen and suddenly the McBlog is flooded by the Class of 2011? And then after the swarm dies down…you forget to post that second half? Yep, that happened to me.

Just like the previous half of this shoot, these are all film… a lot of expired film. And a lot of lovely ladies playing with powdered paint. Definitely an experiment to do again.

When a group of super awesome ladies ask if you’d be up for a shoot revolving around some super fly kicks, you say yes.

And when on the day of the shoot, your computer breaks down and you are an absolute mess and have NO interest in creating digital files of any kind, you break out your trusty ol’ Minolta and do the whole thing on film.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with film all over again. There is just an inexplicable excitement that comes with waiting to see a roll of film developed, a tangible magic to holding a print. These past few weeks film has been the perfect yin to my computer screen’s yang.

I couldn’t resist pulling out my Minolta X700 for a bit of fun at Bobby + Breanne’s wedding. These are all from the first few hours of the day amidst preparation for the wedding. I cannot wait to share my other images from their beautiful day.

Confession: I can never take just one detail shot of the shoes. Hand me a pair and I just can’t help myself!

This self portrait friday is bittersweet.

But let’s start with the bitter part…This week my computer decided to die. Or rather, just stare at me with a grey screen like it didn’t know better. I had to send it away for service and I may or may not have buried my sorrows in a Dutch Freeze and a couple episodes of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

First, let me say to all my clients out there that your photos are SAFE AND SOUND on my hard drives. However. there is currently no way for me to edit them…which is the reason behind the stress, tears and Real Housewives marathon.

I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t freaking out about this situation but at this point I’m looking ahead to the silver lining. I’m taking this time as a sort of mini-staycation, if you will. A chance to catch up on things non-editing related. Lately my life has felt like it’s ruled by the computer and the mountains of photos that I need to sort, edit, burn and repeat. Part of me almost feels like this is kismet. My time to remember why I shoot in the first place. I’ve been spending a lot of time reuniting with my film camera, dreaming big and getting inspired again. And it feels good. Real good.
